COURSE STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES 1. Identify various research methods and their characteristics used in the scientific study of psychology. (PSLO 1,2) Measured by embedded test questions, course assignments and projects. 2. Describe the historical influences and early schools of thought that shaped the field of psychology.(PSLO 1,2) Measured by course assignments and projects. 3. Describe some of the prominent perspectives and approaches used in the study of psychology.(PSLO 1,2) Measured by course assignments and projects. 4. Use terminology unique to the study of psychology.(PSLO 1,2) Measured by course assignments and projects. 5. Describe accepted approaches and standards in psychological assessment and evaluation.(PSLO 1,2) Measured by course assignments and projects. 6. GRADING POLICY: Your final course letter grade will be based on an approximate percentage of 1000 total required points as follows: Letter Grades Point Totals Approximate Percentages A 900 - 1000 90%+ B 800 - 899 80-89% C 700 - 799 70-79% D 600 - 699 60-69% F 599 and below 59% and below ALL EXAM, QUIZ,ASSIGNMENT AND PROJECT SCORES WILL BE USED IN CALCULATING YOUR COURSE GRADE. Form 883 is recommended for reporting exam responses because a larger short answer response area is provided on the back of that form. *I will not discuss grades over the phone. Work not following directions provided for each assignment will not be graded and will receive a zero. 8. This course will require turning in some work using the Blackboard course website 9. Plagiarism, written or oral, will result minimally in failure of the assignment (1st offense) and failure of the course (2nd offense). 10. All work turned in for credit must include a complete heading, including student?s first and last names, course name (PSYC), course number, course section number and date the work was completed. 11. Any drink brought to an in person classroom must be in a container with a lid. Student must clean up liquid spillage immediately and realize future drink privileges may be restricted or removed. 12. Attendance or participation in class activity is expected daily and on time. 13. The instructor expects that students will display mature behavior in the classroom and in online activities. This includes being responsible for your actions and treating your classmates, instructor and yourself with respect at all times. Failure to do so may result in your removal from the classroom or the course. 14. The use of technology in class is prohibited without Instructor consent. 15. Students should spend a minimum of 3-6 hours per week on this course?s assignments. 16. Plagiarism in this class will not be tolerated. Any assignment submitted that contains plagiarism will earn an automatic zero. Further action may be taken as determined by the instructor. 17. Each assignment and project in this class has a due date and due time; late assignments will not be accepted. Exceptions to this policy are discussed below. 18.
